About the program:
The ILPs’ Legacy Business Program serves long standing, independently owned businesses that have made significant and strong contributions to their communities and considered to be cultural anchors. It is businesses like these that have helped shape the construct of communities and cities and our goal is to ensure that these legacy businesses sustain and remain.
The ILP identifies a Legacy Business as:
- a business that has been in operation for 30 years or more.
- a business that is independently owned and operated (owned by generations of the same family with fewer than 50 employees).
- a business that has made significant and strong contributions to their communities.
Downtown Detroit Pilot Project
This Pilot Project will include 10 Downtown Detroit Legacy Businesses that have been pre selected as pillars to launch the official Detroit Legacy Business Program
