The Legacy Business Program

About the program:

The ILPs’ Legacy Business Program preserves and serves long standing, independently owned businesses, organizations and entities that have made significant and strong contributions to their communities and are considered as cultural anchors. It is businesses like these that have helped shape the construct of our communities and cities. Our goal is to ensure that these legacy businesses sustain and remain.

The ILP identifies a legacy business as:

  • a business that has been in operation for 25 years or more.
  • a business that is independently owned and operated (owned by generations of the same family with fewer than 50 employees).
  • a business that contributes to the neighborhoods history and heritage
  • a business that cultivates community tradition and culture
